The Rock's Business Growth Strategy

At The Rock Building Society, we have built a reputation as a Queensland success story. But that's not where our vision stops. The Rock is determined to continue to grow our business and further increase value for our shareholders and customers.

In order to achieve this, we have a comprehensive strategy in place, built on forging strong and lasting relationships with customers, shareholders, staff, business partners and the community. Our plan encompasses a raft of initiatives, a number of which are detailed below.

It's this approach to business that has won us recognition as the 2007 Stanwell Major Business of the Year in the Rockhampton Regional Development and Ergon Energy Business Excellence Awards.

Key features of our business growth strategy include:

  1. Expanding our branch and agency network in regional communities.
  2. Further development of our insurance broking business, RockSure, which doubled in size due to the acquisition of Russell Wells Insurance Broker in mid-2007.
  3. Growing our business banking customer base through our alliance with St George Bank.
  4. Improving the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of our business operations with the replacement of our core banking system. This new system will enable us to run multiple brands.
  5. Expanding The Rock's lending portfolio via strong relationships with mortgage brokers, our Alliance partners and agency operators.
  6. Fostering strong links with the communities in which we do business. This includes assisting in the fight against cancer with a $150,000 donation to the new Rockhampton Cancer Education and Support Centre.
