The Rock Building Society's solid reputation was further cemented in October 2008 when Prime Minister Kevin Rudd announced the Federal Government would provide a guarantee on all deposit funds placed with building societies, credit unions and banks.

This guarantee applies to individual customers through until at least October 2011, meaning deposits for each individual name or entity (company, trust, etc) is guaranteed up to $1 million at no cost to the account holder. Deposits in excess of $1 million will attract a Government fee in return for the guarantee.

This means all deposits up to $1 million held with The Rock, including monies deposited into savings and investment accounts and held in term deposits; are guaranteed by the Australian Government, which has a AAA investor-grade rating.
